Personal Characteristics

I have hit every deadline I have been set in Media and Film Studies, as well as working my hardest on every project to achieve the highest quality I can. I have shown to myself that I can work individually and in a group to complete any task set. I believe that group work is essential to produce high-quality products, even if the communication is not effective, so it is important to be self-aware and know your place in the group. In filmmaking, teamwork is extremely useful because contributions will always improve your result. When it comes to working on my own, I am confident in my ability and when I fall down, I learn.

I showed my reliability when I was working on a project that was not going to plan, but when it came to my turn to contribute, I still gave my best effort despite the possibility of failure.
It is important to me to contribute more time and effort than the minimum because that is how you get better results, putting more thought into your planning will get you a more accurate, distinct and powerful product.
In my own personal project, making my own auteur film, it is difficult to balance my own creativity, inspiration and desire with working as a team. This is because of the difference between a solo project that gives me the result I enjoy the most and a team project that gets a better film made.

As well as this, I have used these on several different projects. I have made several short films already using this equipment and building my experience in pre-production, on-scene filming and post-production.

My particular area of media is filmmaking and I aim to be a director in the future, therefore, I am always working on my communication skills, problem solving and organisational abilities.

Achievements

One of my proudest awards was the first major award I got in Media, a recognition of my 'Contribution to Media' at an Impington Village College awards evening when I also received the same award for Mathematics. This pushed me to pursue a career in media.

I have also received a recognition award 'Club Player of the Year' with my football team, Milton Colts. This helps me to understand how people's minds work and how to work in a team.

Outside of college, I have gathered some work experience, I did a week working at Acteon Communications, producing an employee interview video in four days that the company put on their website and social media. The first day was planning, I designed the questions and was tutored with the equipment by a staff member. The second day, I conducted the interviews and filmed them with a camera, tripod and microphone. I then used two days to edit the video, then having a screening in front of a group of staff. This really gave me a starting point for my films, to start with something that is not necessarily the most enjoyable but important for experience with equipment.

A second piece of work experience I got was being hired to film an event at Cancer Research UK in Cambridge as they unveiled their new VR technology they will use to understand tumours better.

When I applied to Long Road Sixth Form College, I applied for the 'Scholars' Award'.
